Donna Self and Sharon McClannan won in three sets at No. 1 doubles as visiting Booker T. Washington won, 5-4, handing the Maury's girls tennis team its first Eastern District match loss since 1981 Thursday.
The Bookers' triumph ended a string of 103 consecutive district victories for the Commodores and gives Booker T. Washington (7-0, 4-0) sole possession of first place. The Commodores, who have won 13 consecutive district titles, fell to 3-1, 2-1.
Self and McClannan split the first two sets, 6-4, 5-7, with Jennifer Warren and Clea Caldwell and went up 3-0 in the third. Warren and Caldwell evened the match at 3-all before falling 6-3.

Deep Creek 6, Western Branch 3: The Hornets (2-0) won four of six singles matches to hand the Bruins their first loss.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
N-SA 68, Norfolk Christian 32: Nansemond-Suffolk (8-0) outscored the Ambassadors 25-9 in the second quarter to build a 24-point cushion. Saints freshman Allison Dunn had 15 points and Ann Murden added 14.
FIELD HOCKEY
Nansemond River 3, Ferguson 1: Goalie Carrie Morgan made seven saves for the Warriors (2-0).
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Granby 2, Lake Taylor 0: Melanie Clark served 12 points as the Comets (3-0, 3-0) won an Eastern District match, 15-5, 15-9.
Indian River 3, Oscar Smith 0: Jeannine Simpson served five aces and Jennifer Burns had two kills as the Braves improved to 2-0 with a 15-2, 15-3, 15-4 victory.
Deep Creek 3, Wilson 0: Led by Joy Pack's 14 points, the Hornets (1-1 Southeastern) swept, 15-4, 15-11, 15-11.
Maury 2, Booker T. 1: Paige Griffin made two kills as the Commodores won, 15-1, 12-15, 15-12.
Great Bridge 3, Tabb 0: Marni Magyar served 10 points, two for aces, and made six kills and Emily Ouzts and April Meyer had four kills each for the Wildcats.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
