Tony Tapia Magpantay, 56, of the 2900 block of Durbin Place, died Sept. 16, 1994 in a local hospital.
He was born in Batangas, Philippines and was a Catholic. He was a supervisor with Westinghouse Inc. of Chesapeake and was retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Batangas Association and Asamgat Golf Club, both in Virginia Beach, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy A. Magpantay; three sons, Dion T. Magpantay and his wife, Rhonda, of South Carolina, Tony A. Magpantay Jr. and Lou A. Magpantay, both of Virginia Beach; a brother, Modesto Magpantay of the Philippines; and a grandson.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at NAS Oceana by Father Gary E. Lamb. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. A Christian wake service will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with visitation following until 9 p.m.
