Readers responded to an INFOLINE poll about whether the United State

should invade Haiti. Here are four responses. For more comments, see

page A10.

I think it's just a publicity ploy for President Clinton. There

are no Americans in real danger as there was in Grenada. As long as

they got those folks down there, he should point them toward Cuba,

which has really been a problem.

No, I don't think we need to be in there. We are in enough

countries in this world. If they start harming our citizens, that's

one thing. That would give us reason enough to go in there.

- Rick Savory, 43, Chesapeake

I went through the Vietnam War and this is just starting another

Vietnam. I don't think the United States has got any business in it

whatsoever, because it's not threatening us in any way.

- George Shelton, 68, Virginia Beach

I believe everyone on earth needs help now and then and if we're

the ones that have the power to help anyone I guess we should be

there for our neighbor and do as much as we can. I would hope

someone would help me if I was in that desperate need.
