A 78-year-old Oregon man died after he was found unconscious in a hot tub at the Virginia Beach Resort and Conference Center Friday afternoon.
The man, whose identity was withheld Friday night until relatives could be notified, was taken to the trauma center at Virginia Beach General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Mike Carey, spokesman for the Virginia Beach Police Department, said the man was attending a conference at the center, located in the 2800 block of Shore Drive.
Carey said police and rescue units responded at 3:18 p.m. when there was a report that someone had drowned in a hot tub. Rescue units found the man and administered life support while rushing him to the hospital.
``It is undetermined at this time if the man died from a medical problem, such as a heart attack, or if he died from drowning,'' Carey said.
