SHIRLEY MATHENA DAVIS, age 68, of the 4200 block of Valencia Rd., Chesapeake, Va., died Fri. Sept 16 in her home. Mrs. Davis was born in Bluefield, W.V. She was a member of Simonsdale Presbyterian Church and served as treasurer of Women of the Church. She was retired from the Supply Dept. of N.N.S.Y. in Portsmouth. Survivors include her husband Aubrey Davis. Three sons, John Mathena, Jr., Roger Mathena, Gary Mathena and one daughter, Sheryl Mathena, all in this area. One brother, Edgar Stalnaker of Princeton, West Virginia. Two sisters, Ila Tiller of Bluefield, West Virginia, Zola Farmer of Toledo, Ohio and three sisters-in-laws, Betty Stalnaker of Bluefield and Rebecca Stalnaker of Roanoke, Va. and Edith Stalnaker of Princeton, W. Va. and several nieces and nephews. One brother-in-law George Tiller of Bluefield. Also, three Stepchildren, A. G. Davis III, Mary Bess Grizzard and Lucille Mitchell in this area. Additional survivors include six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Simonsdale Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jack Ettershank. Burial will be in Greenlawn Mem. Gardens. Memorials may be made to Simonsdale Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
