Tony Tapia Magpantay, 56, of the 2900 block of Durbin Place, died Sept. 16, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mr. Magpantay was born in Batangas, the Philippines, and was a supervisor for Westinghouse Inc. of Chesapeake. He was a member of the Batangas Association of Virginia Beach and Asamgat Golf Club of Virginia Beach. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy A. Magpantay; three sons, Dion T. Magpantay and wife, Rhonda, of South Carolina, and Tony A. Magpantay, Jr., and Lou A. Magpantay, both of Virginia Beach; a brother, Modesto Magpantay of the Philippines; and one grandson.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Chapel of the Good Shepherd, NAS Oceana, by Father Gary E. Lamb. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. A Christian wake service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with visitation following until 9 p.m.
