Mary Irene Peck Sands, 98, a homemaker, died Sept. 17, 1994, in her residence.
Mrs. Sands was born in Portsmouth, the widow of John Spalding Sands, Sr., a member of Azalea Baptist Church and former member of Ocean View Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, June Sands Allen of Norfolk; a son-in-law, Franklin H. Allen; a son, John Spalding Sands Jr. of Virginia Beach; a daughter-in-law, Anne W. Sands; two grandchildren, Lisa Sands Farabaugh and John Spalding Sands III; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Azalea Baptist Church by Dr. Danny L. Owens. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 3 to 4 p.m. today.
