CRIME LINE

Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:

VIRGINIA BEACH

On Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 4 p.m., two young men were walking near the K-Mart store in the 1600 block of General Booth Blvd. when they were approached by five or six black males, a white male a one Filipino male. After a short conversation, the group started punching the young men and at one point used a two-by-four plank to beat them. Police are seeking information leading to the identity of the assailants.

THIS WEEK'S MOST WANTED

Arrest warrants were on file as of Sept. 14 for the following people. Included for each is their name, race, date of birth and charges pending. Appearance on the list does not imply guilt.

Cowell, George S. - Black; Sept. 2, 1975; armed robbery, use of a firearm.

Tubbs, Jeffrey B. - White; Sept. 15, 1963; malicious assault.

Blount, Antwan V. - Black; Feb. 21, 1975; carnal knowledge of a child.

Murray, Michael A. - Black; Oct. 9, 1961; two counts of grand larceny auto, malicious assault.

SUFFOLK

Detective E.C. Harris is asking help finding the person responsible for the burglary and grand larceny of tools from a house being built.

On Sept. 12, it was discovered that someone had entered a house at 251 Pine St. in Suffolk, where there were a lot of electric and hand tools on site. Among the items taken were: a Black & Decker table saw, two skill saws, a jigsaw, an electric sander, a powerscrew driver, an assortment of carpenter's hand tools, two electric drills, eight boxes of carpet tile and a G.E. portable stereo.

HAMPTON

On Tuesday, Sept. 13, three suspected explosive devices were found inside the General District Court building. The first device was discovered at 11:20 a.m. inside the court building on King Street. While searching the building, the State Police Bomb Technician Team found two other devices. All the devices were rendered safe.

Investigators have no suspects.
