COLLECTORS' CORNER

There doesn't seem to be an off-season for Deion Sanders.

Sanders is a popular figure among football and baseball card collectors. Since his debut in the 1989 issues of both sports, his cards have been sought on the basis of the appeal generated by his abilities, and by those for whom his crossover talents hold fascination. As a result, Sanders may have as large a collecting constituency as many superstars who've had longer, and more firmly-established, careers.

Charisma is also a factor in the collectability of Sanders items. Sanders is omnipresent in the news: Changing teams, rushing from city to city to compete in different games, and negotiating in one sports world while events in another are stalled. His activities continually remind fans of his presence on the hobby scene.

Sanders' athletic versatility and crowd-pleasing personality are likely to ensure his long-term popularity: His card prices are sure to remain strong, as well.
