Dorothy Dale Wright Meers, 75, of Southern Shores, died Sept. 17, in an Outer Banks medical facility.
Mrs. Meers was a native of Norfolk and a homemaker. She was a member of the Duck United Methodist Church, the Duck United Methodist Women, served on the Nursing Home Advisory Committee, was Volunteer of the Month for DVAC, was active in the Food Pantry and numerous other volunteer organizations.
Mrs. Meers was the daughter of the late John and Estelle Fraser Wright.
Mrs. Meers is survived by her husband, Russell H. Meers of the home; two daughters, Brenda M. Benson of Richmond and Rhae ``Missy'' Rozelle of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, George Meers of New Holland, Pa., and Russell H. Meers Jr. of San Francisco, Calif.; one brother, Lewis Overton of Norfolk; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Duck United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. by the Rev. David Cliff. The family will receive friends at Twiford's Funeral Home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Duck United Methodist Church.
Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge of arrangements.
