How much is too much?
Dr. Lunzy Delano Britt still hasn't found the answer to that question.
The local surgeon has already made a name for himself as head of the most sophisticated trauma center in the area; as a role model for young blacks; as a community activist; as a teacher.
Now he will add another line to his resume - chairman of the general surgery department at Eastern Virginia Medical School. And he doesn't plan to cut back on other obligations.
``I don't think anyone can squeeze 24 hours as much as I can,'' he said.
Among other duties, Britt will oversee curriculum, faculty recruitment, patient care and research for various surgical specialties. He'll also continue to teach, he said.
Britt's department and other surgical specialties will be coordinated by Dr. Gary L. Schechter, the new chairman of the department of surgery.
Britt, 43, plans to continue as head of the shock trauma center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
He maintains a private practice in Norfolk and his hometown of Suffolk.
He also serves on the board of Norfolk State University and several community organizations. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
