Irene T. Williams, 72, of the 1200 block of Alcindor Road, died Sept. 17, 1994, in Manning Convalescent Home.
Mrs. Williams was born in Drewryville, Va., and was the widow of Johnnie T. Williams Sr. She was a former member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, Drewryville, a former member of the NAACP, a voter registration assistant and a former member of various church, school and political organizations.
Survivors include five daughters, Jacqueline Ware of Baltimore, Joan Wilson of Norfolk, Sandra Gaskins of Mitchellville, Md., Wanda Hughes of Virginia Beach and Frieda Cason of Chesapeake; five sons, Johnnie M. Williams Jr. and Kermit K. Williams Sr., both of Suffolk, Shelton Williams Sr. of Takoma Park, Md., Calvin R. Williams Sr. of Portsmouth and Andre S. Williams of Bowie, Md.; six sisters; two brothers; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; an aunt, Cornelius Whitfield of Severn, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Larry Williams.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in New Berean Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Leroy Ricks Sr. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, Drewryville. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. today in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
