VIRGINIA BENESEK HUGHES

Virginia B. Hughes, 78, of the 1300 block of Buckingham Ave., Norfolk, died Sept. 19, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Hughes was born in Prince George, Va., and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Prince George. She was a 1932 graduate and Valedictorian of Hopewell High School, where she received her secretarial training. Mrs. Hughes served as secretary to the manager of Baltimore County Parks and Recreation in Maryland. She retired in 1986 and moved to Norfolk.

Survivors include a sister, Evelyn B. Webb and brother-in-law, Thomas H. Webb Jr. of Norfolk; and a brother, Irving J. Benesek and sister-in-law, Helen C. Benesek of Prince George, Va. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 22, 1994, at 10:30 a.m. in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va., by the Rev. James T. Snoke. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
