CAMPUS NOTES

Jessica McKean Davey of Norfolk, a senior at Wake Forest University, has been named one of the Top Ten College Women for 1994 by Glamour Magazine.

Davey was recognized by the magazine for her work with Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, where she spent 10 weeks. Winners receive a $1,000 award, opportunities to meet with top professionals, and a featured profile in Glamour's October issue.

Davey, a religion/sociology major, has served as co-chair of the 1,000-student volunteer service corps for the Winston-Salem area, a volunteer for the Samaritan Ministries, and as coordinator of the university's Mentor program where she created the Mento's Handbook. She received the Pro Humanitate Award, the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service, Scales Grant for International Study, and the Spires of Excellence in Civic Responsibility award.

She was also named Presidential Scholar Community Service/Leadership, a Louise Hearn Scholar, and United Way Volunteer of the Year.

During Christmas vacation, Davey plans to return to Calcutta with 10 Wake Forest student volunteers to continue her work with the Missionaries of Charity.
