Donnie Gibbs Ambrose, 77, of Manteo, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 1994, in a Norfolk nursing home.
Mrs. Ambrose, a native of Hyde County, N.C., was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Maggie Adams Davidson and widow of John T. Ambrose. She was the former owner and operator of Harbor Light Nursing Home in Manteo and was a member of First Assembly of God.
Mrs. Ambrose is survived by two sons, James Ray Gibbs and Henry Gibbs, both of Wanchese, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, at First Assembly Church of God, Manteo, by the Rev. Ron Denham and the Rev. Charles Etheridge. Burial will follow in the Manteo Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the home of Jenny Gibbs, 126 Brothers Lane, Wanchese, N.C.
Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge of arrangements.
