Lucy Lane Edwards Deagle died on Sept. 20, 1994, in Gloucester, Va.
She was the daughter of Thomas Elliott Edwards and Annie Eliza Gay. She was the granddaughter of Robert Emmett Edwards and Martha Peyton Hudgins.
She was an active member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and a double descendant of George Reade and Elizabeth Martiau of Yorktown, Va., the ancestral family of George Washington, Thomas Nelson, Mrs. Adlai Stevenson and Queen Elizabeth II.
She was an active member of Gwynns Island Baptist Church and a former member of Trinity Baptist Church in Norfolk, Va.
She is survived by a sister, Alice Gay James of Hampton, Va.; and two brothers, Henry Gwynn Edwards and Curtis Ainslie Edwards of Gwynn, Va. She is also survived by four children, Lt. Col. (ret.) Reginald Deagle of Mathews County, Audrey Louise Sawyer of Bena, Thomas Elliott Deagle and Martha D. Aldred of Norfolk, Va. Her grandchildren in Tidewater are Robert Lee Rebold and Roy Allen Aldred, and Tom Aldred Jr. of Sunbury, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home at Mathews Courthouse today from noon to 2 p.m. Memorial donations should be made to the Building Fund for Gwynns Island Baptist Church.
