GEORGE W. MEBANE SR.

George Wesley Mebane Sr., of the 2100 block of Burnside Place, died Sept. 21, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mr. Mebane was born in McLeansville, N.C. He was a truck driver for Allied Trucking System. He was a member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake, chairman of the Trustee Board, and member of the Male Chorus and the Inspirational Choir. He was also a member of James P. Carter Masonic Lodge (NU)195 and the Teamsters Union (NU)822.

Survivors include his wife, Mossie ``Nan'' Mebane; a daughter, Kimberley E. Mebane of Chesapeake; two sons, Ali L. Perrin of Hyattsville, Md. and George W. Mebane Jr. of Chesapeake; his mother, Mary Jane Shepherd Mebane of Greensboro, N.C.; five sisters, Barbara Gainey of McLeansville, N.C., Frances Brown of Hagerstown, Md., and Virginia Mebane, Marie Chavis and Deborah Mebane, all of Greensboro; two brothers, the Rev. Garry Mebane of Hagerstown and David Mebane of Greensboro; maternal grandparents, Gurley and Mattie Shepherd of Greensboro; one grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Dr. S.D. Shepherd. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Sunday. The body will be taken to church at 11 a.m. Monday. The family will assemble at the residence for the processional at noon Monday. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
