THOMAS E. MANNIX, JR.

Thomas E. Mannix, Jr., 63, of Virginia Beach, died September 23, 1994, in Virginia Beach General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Mannix was born in Washington, D.C., and was a graduate of Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service. He was formerly with the Pepsi-Cola Company in New York and Washington, D.C. He was active with the Washington Board of Trade, served as President of the Washington Jaycees, as Chairman of the National Cherry Blossom Parade, and President Kennedy's advisory committee for development of The Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. He is recognized for his achievements in ``Outstanding Young Men in America,'' 1964.

He came to Virginia Beach in 1965 and worked with the B.M. Stanton family in developing the Robo Autobath Carwash business. He was a golf enthusiast and worked with various community projects. He was a member of Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club, Princess Anne Country Club and Royal Poinciana Golf Club, Naples Florida. He was a former member of the Norfolk Sports Club and Circus Saints and Sinners.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patricia Stanton Mannix, three daughters, Kathryn Mannix of Washington, D.C., Dorothy ``Dolly'' Mannix of Reno, Nevada, Grace Mannix of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and one sister, Grace M. Smith of Washington, D.C.

A Chapel service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 1994, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel by Reverend Michael Breslin. Burial will be at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel is handling arrangements.
