ALBERT L. MATTHEWS

Albert L. Matthews, 75, of the 500 block of Beechwood Ave., a retired hardware manager, died Sept. 24, 1994, in Maryview Hospital.

Mr. Matthews was born in Faulkland, N.C. He had retired from Kirshmiers General. He was a member of Larchmont Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Old Dominion Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Berneita Matthews of Norfolk; a daughter, Brenda Coughlin of Suffolk; three sons, Albert L. Matthews Jr. of Pleasanton, Calif., and Robert L. Matthews and Roger W. Matthews, both of Norfolk; three sisters, Thelma Tyson of Chesapeake, Captola Owens of Fountain, N.C., and Nannie Owens of Farmville, N.C.; a brother, J.T. Matthews of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by Dr. W.C. Holoman. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
