4 TEENS CHARGED

Police said Monday they have charged four teenagers with firearms offenses after officers noticed that one occupant of a car was wearing a mask Friday night at Tallwood High School.

Police arrested the four teens in the car in the parking lot of the school in the 1600 block of Kempsville Road. When officers approached the car, they found that two of the occupants were armed with loaded handguns and another was wearing a mask. A third loaded handgun was found in the trunk of the car.

All four were arrested without incident. None was a student at Tallwood.

Charged were Jasper D. Gatlin, 19, of the 5100 block of Dundee Lane; two 17-year-old boys; and a 15-year-old boy. Three of the suspects were not identified because of their ages.

Gatlin was charged with possession of a firearm on school property and illegal wearing a mask in public. The 17-year-olds were charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm on school property. The 15-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm on school property.

Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues, police said.
