Q. What are the names of the ships due to deploy with the Eisenhower battle group in October? When will the ships they are replacing return home?

A. When the aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower embarks on Oct. 20, it scheduled to be accompanied by the following ships: The guided-missile cruisers Anzio and Cape St. George, the guided-missile destroyer Kidd, the destroyer Peterson, the guided-missile frigates Robert G. Bradley and Klakring, and the fast-combat support ship Detroit.

It's not easy to forecast when the ships they're replacing will return. Normally, the Navy tries to bring its battle groups back six months to the date they deployed.

But because of events in Haiti, the George Washington battle group will probably pull in later than its anticipated arrival date of Oct. 20. Probably not more than a week or two behind schedule, though.

Q. What is the number for the Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hotline?

A. The Naval Inspector General operates an office in Norfolk dedicated to investigating complaints that range from defense contracting disputes to discrimination and sexual harassment.

If you have a complaint and you live in the Hampton Roads area, call 444-6730. People outside the area can use the toll-free number 1-800-533-2397.

After a call is made, the office investigates the complaint or refers it to someone who can. Either way, the caller will receive a letter explaining the outcome of any actions.

Q. What is the address of the military review board for upgrading of discharges?

A. If the discharge occurred with less than 15 years of service and was not the result of a general court-martial, you can apply to the Naval Discharge Review Board. The address is:

Naval Discharge Review Board

801 North Randolph St.

Arlington, Va. 22203-1989

If they deny the request for an upgrade, or if the discharge was the result of a general court-martial, you can contact the Board for Correction of Naval Records. The address is:

Department of the Navy

Bureau of Naval Personnel

Board for Correction of Naval Records

Washington, D.C. 20370

Q. Do they hold C.P.R. classes at Oceana?

A. The Red Cross sponsors cardio-pulmonary resuscitation classes not only at Oceana Naval Air Station, but at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base and Norfolk Naval Base as well. There is usually a charge for the classes and they are held at various dates and times. For more information about classes at Oceana, call 425-8955. MEMO: Hot Line runs every other week.
