Thruman H. Briscoe, a native of Gates County, died Sept. 26, 1994, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital after a long illness.
He was the son of the late Joe and Mary Briscoe. Mr. Briscoe was a World War II veteran and a member of the Corapeake Masonic Lodge (NU)432. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Gates.
Survivors include his wife, Allean G. Briscoe of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia B. Lacey of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Scott Briscoe of Gates; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. James K. Brown. His body will be placed in the church at noon. Final viewing will be from noon until 1:45 p.m. Creecy-Creecy Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge of arrangements.
