BOY CHARGED WITH TAKING GUN TO SCHOOL

A 12-year-old Landstown Middle School student was charged Tuesday with carrying a loaded gun to class, police said.

Police spokesman Mike Carey said school officials were told the seventh-grader was carrying a gun in his pants pocket, and the assistant principal took the .25-caliber semiautomatic weapon from him.

The student was charged with taking a gun onto school property, a felony, and has been recommended for expulsion.
