WILLIE CLAYTON GILES

Chief Warrant Officer Willie Clayton ``Jig'' Giles, son of Mrs. Gladys Giles Williams and the late Mr. Willie Theodore Giles, was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Tarboro, N.C.. He departed this life on Sept. 24, 1994, in Portsmouth Naval Hospital.

He retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer after serving 23 years. His naval career took him around the world. He was a member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church of Tarboro and now a member of the St. Mark R.Z.U.A. Church of Norfolk where he was the Chairman of the Children's Church. He was a member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge (NU)22 and a volunteer with the STOP Organization Head Start Program of Virginia Beach.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mrs. Joanna White Giles; two sons, Ritche L. and Willie C., II ``Lil' Jig'', all of Virginia Beach; his mother, Mrs. Gladys Giles Williams of Tarboro; two sisters, Barbara G. Carter and Shirleyan M. Giles; and one brother, Leonard D. Giles.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday in Tarboro. Dickens Funeral Home of Tarboro (919) 823-1824, will be handling arrangements. The family may be contacted at (919) 823-3194 or (919) 823-1274.

A local memorial service for CWO Willie C. Giles will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday Oct. 15, 1994 at St. Mark R.Z.U.A. Church, 1513 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, Rev. Alvin B. Thomas, Pastor. Phone 627-3971. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
