Earline Rose Cradle of the 800 block of Cavalier Blvd., died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1994, at Maryview Medical Center.
Mrs. Cradle was born in Jarvisburg, N.C., on Oct. 1, 1913 to Joseph and Lena Jefferson. Mrs. Cradle was a member of Mount Olive Church of Christ Disciples, 1225 Lindsey Ave., Portsmouth. She served on the Usher Board and Senior Choir and was a Sunday School teacher. Until her death, she was the mother of the church.
She is survived by her husband, Percy A. Cradle; three daughters, Lena Butler of Portsmouth, Barbara Cox of Brooklyn N.Y., and Phyllis Cradle of Portsmouth; one stepdaughter, Zulena Halsey of Fort Washington, Md.; two sons, Gilbert Cradle of Portsmouth and Derl Cradle of Norfolk; six sisters, Mrs. Julia Hunt of Willingsboro, N.J., Mrs. Nina M. Williams of Norfolk, Mrs. Lena Alfred, Mrs. Pinkie Loyd and Mrs. Vashti Moore of Arlington, Va., Mrs. Margaret Rich of Raleigh, N.C.; and one brother, Joseph Jefferson of Jamesville, N.C. She was the grandmother to 17 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 26 great-grandchildren and is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday, Oct. 3, 1994 in Mount Olive Church of Christ Disciples by Elder Charles Butler. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at 805 Cavalier Blvd., Portsmouth. Rogers Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
