James E. Sheppard, 69, of the 5000 block of Bark Lane, a retired HVAC metal mechanic, died Sept. 27, 1994, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Mr. Sheppard was born in Beaufort County, N.C., and was retired from the City of Virginia Beach after 17 years of service. He was a member of Aragona Christian Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles (NU)3204, Virginia Beach. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy R. Sheppard and was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret V. Sheppard. He is also survived by two daughters, Lynn Huffman of Virginia Beach and Leigh Austin of Blounts Creek, N.C.; a son, James R. Sheppard of Virginia Beach; a sister, Audrey B. Butcher of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Roy E. Sheppard of Virginia Beach, Dalton Sheppard of Ogdenburg, N.Y., and Billy Sheppard of Belhaven, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, by the Rev. William Campbell and the Rev. Alvin Thompson. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Davis Cemetery, Pantego, N.C. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where an Eagles memorial service will be at 6 p.m.
