TRAIN EXCURSIONS CANCELED

Norfolk Southern has canceled two steam excursion trains planned for the weekend because of damage to some of the passenger coaches.

One train was to have left Richmond on Saturday morning for Lynchburg and returned to Richmond that afternoon. The other was to have taken the same route Sunday.

People who bought tickets for the two trips should contact the Old Dominion chapter of the National Railway Historical Society about obtaining refunds. The society's phone number in Richmond is (804) 231-4324.

Two intermodal rail cars and nine passenger coaches derailed about 12:10 a.m. Wednesday during a switching movement in Norfolk Southern's Kinney Yard in Lynchburg. The accident is under investigation. by CNB
