The City Council decided Tuesday to hold its informal meetings in a back room instead of the council chambers and to spend as much as $44,000 on video equipment to allow the meetings to be televised live on VBTV.
Several members of council have said they want to meet in the back room so they can ``roll of up their sleeves'' and talk more freely. The informal meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of every month from 4 to 6 p.m.
They chose to spend the money to fully equip the back room, rather than not televising the meetings or videotaping the meetings for air at a later time.
Councilman John D. Moss said he thinks the $44,000 will be well-spent.
``There's a lot more public utility on this than on a flagpole,'' Moss said, alluding to a similarly priced flag pole installed at the new Ocean Lakes High School. by CNB
