Navy Captain William Delancey Frierson, 78, of 1569 Flanagan Lane, died Sept. 28, 1994, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Captain Frierson, a native of Florence, S.C., was born Feb. 6, 1916. He later attended public schools in Decatur, Ga. He graduated from the Georgia School of Technology in 1938, entered the Navy in 1941 and retired after 30 years of service. He was a naval architect. He was a member of Eastern Shore Episcopal Church, past member of the Vestry and active in the church's Christian Education Ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Wall Frierson; his children, William D. Frierson III and Robert N. Frierson, both of Virginia Beach, and Sally F. Faulkner of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Katherine W. Frierson, W. Benjamin Faulkner, Caroline B. Faulkner and Nicholas T. Faulkner; and two sisters, Alice F. Gillespie and Elizabeth F. Kennedy.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 1994, in Eastern Shore Episcopal Church by the Rev. Andrew MacBeth and the Rev. Gary Rowe. Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastern Shore Chapel Church Library Fund, Music Fund, or charity of choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
