FESTUS S. BOOZER SR.

Festus Shaely Boozer Sr., 66, of 301 North Orange St., died Friday morning, Sept. 30, 1994, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Born in Clinton, S.C., Mr. Boozer was the son of the late Frank and Ruth Davenport Boozer. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was retired as press room manager for The Ledger-Star newspaper in Norfolk.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Melva Stevens Boozer; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Liz) DeVore of West Columbia, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Nelson (Betty Jane) Casteen of Rose Hill and Mrs. Charles (Tammy) Mercer of Newport; three sons, Festus S. Boozer Jr. and wife, Sandy, of Cayce, S.C., Wade Franklin Luther and wife, Lois, of Columbia, S.C., and Steven Boozer and wife, Jennifer, of Goldsboro; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Rickman of Durham and Mrs. Clyde (Ruth) Harmon of Greenwood, S.C.; and 15 grandchildren, including a special grandson, Cody Boozer.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Padgett Funeral Home, Wallace, by the Rev. Dennis Bazemore. Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and will be at their residence, 301 North Orange St. in Wallace, at other times.
