WILLIAM E. WASHINGTON

William E. Washington, 75, of the 700 block of Bold St., died Sept. 28, 1994.

Mr. Washington was born in Smithfield, Va., son of the late Emma and Cornelius Washington. He retired 15 years ago from the City of Norfolk, Solid Waste Department, after 24 years of service. He was a member of Wesley Union AME Zion Church, Norfolk, and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Pattie Washington; two daughters, Barbara Johnson of Norfolk and Diane W. Arnold of Virginia Beach; a son, Earl Roberts of Norfolk; a sister, Edna Young of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four nieces; four nephews, among them a devoted nephew, Milton O. Washington of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Wesley Union AME Zion Church, 708 Johnson Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. P.N. Shannon. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, Portsmouth, and Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 12:15 p.m. Monday for the processional to the church.
