SNAGGED LINE LANDS ROD, REEL AND A FISH.

A slow fishing day for retired nurses Bea Fahed, 76, left, and

Kathryn Carter, 73, got interesting when Carter's line became

fouled off the Avalon Pier in Kill Devil Hills. To their surprise,

up from the water came a brand new rod and reel. Then Fahed, of

Deltaville, Va., noticed a strange tug on the end of its line.

``There's still a fish on!'' she said - and reeled in a 3-pound

speckled trout, still hooked to the just-recovered rig. ``It was

icing on the cake,'' said Carter, of Roanoke. ``I don't fish to

catch fish. I fish to have fun. So when that came up, it was

glorious.''
