Police have arrested an 18-year-old man and charged him with murder and felonious use of a firearm in the shooting of a Portsmouth man July 24.
Ramon D. Halison of 5646 Parrish Lane in Portsmouth is accused of shooting Walter M. Taylor outside an Amoco Service Station in the 3900 block of Twin Pines Road. Taylor of 3645 Gateway Drive was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died shortly after 7 p.m.
According to witnesses, four males were seen running from the area after the shooting. Taylor was shot one time with a handgun.
Police said that Taylor was Halison's stepfather, and the shooting was the result of a dispute over money.
