A police dog tracked the scent of an alleged sex offender Thursday, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old man who detectives said wanted to rape a mother and her teenage daughter in their home.
The suspect, Shannon S. Cousett, was out on bond for a similar crime Sept. 1, police said.
Police spokesman Lou Thurston said a woman and her daughter called police at 1:30 a.m. Thursday because a man was trying to break into their house in the 1800 block of Coleen Court.
The man fled before police arrived, but returned at 4 a.m.
He peeped at the mother and daughter through a patio window, and exposed himself to them.
The mother called police again. Officer Raymond Bousman and his dog, Alex, tracked the man and arrested Cousett near the house.
Cousett was charged with two counts of burglary with intent to rape, and one count each of peeping tom, indecent exposure and indecent liberties with a minor. Thurston said Cousett has no known address.
Anyone with information about Cousett is asked to call Detective N.M. Borner at 427-4101. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
