SUSPECT SOUGHT IN BEATING

Police are looking for Darryl L. Sutton in connection with the robbery and severe beating of 21-year-old Alexis L. Wagner Sept. 8.

Emergency personnel found Wagner unconscious, with serious head injuries, at Roosevelt Boulevard and Bardot Lane. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he remains in a coma.

Sutton, 27, also known as Putt-Putt and Dee, was described as being 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. His last known address was in the 1600 block of Ekstine Drive. He has been known to frequent the Lincoln Park housing project in Portsmouth, police said.

Police said Sutton may be one of three men who attacked Wagner after a brief conversation.

Wagner was knocked to the ground, and one of the men struck him repeatedly in the head with a handgun. Then all three men kicked him as he lay on the ground, police said.

Sutton is wanted on suspicion of armed robbery, malicious wounding and felonious use of a firearm. Police consider Sutton to be armed and extremely dangerous. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
