I am not a baseball fan. The game has never captured my interest in the slightest, and I have not lost one minute of sleep over the recent strike. (Frankly, I couldn't care less if those overpaid prima donnas ever resume the game.)
But with his recent television series ``Baseball,'' Ken Burns has accomplished a remarkable feat. He has taken a sluggish sport and made it fascinating, insightful and captivating. This ability to take a subject so devoid of allure and to transform it into an engrossing topic warrants special consideration. Where was he when I studied algebra, Virginia history or statistics?
I nominate Ken Burns for secretary of education.
