MICHAEL A. POWELL

Michael Anthony ``Mike'' Powell, 32, of the 1900 block of Lansing Ave., died Sept. 30, 1994, in his home in Portsmouth.

Mr. Powell was born in Norfolk County, Va. He did maintenance and carpentry work for 10 years. He was a former member and former drummer of Philadelphia Church of Christ, Chesapeake. He was predeceased by his mother, Viola Powell.

Survivors include his father, Essie Powell Jr. of Portsmouth; five sisters, Calton Hicks, Verna Odom, Delores Vinson and Valerie Robinson, all of Portsmouth and Gloria Gray of Chesapeake; two brothers, Robert Powell of Virginia Beach and Willie Powell of Hampton; a paternal grandmother, Violet Powell of Portsmouth; and an aunt, Lillie Mae Ward of the Bronx, N.Y.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel by Bishop James T. Farrow. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will begin at noon today in the funeral home.
