REV. SAMUEL B. WHITFIELD

The Rev. Samuel Bradshaw Whitfield, 69, of the 300 block of Old Greenville Road, died at 1:54 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 1994, in the University of Virginia Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 31, 1924, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Hutson B. and Mamie B. Bradshaw Whitfield. Rev. Whitfield was pastor of the Westside Baptist Church, Staunton, for many years and before retirement, was employed by the former Stanley Furniture Company, Waynesboro, for 10 years. He was a member of the Society of Whitfields in Mount Holly, N.C.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Byers Whitfield; three sons, George Robert Whitfield of Seoul, Korea, John Edward Whitfield of Staunton and Paul David Whitfield of Manassas; a daughter, Carolyn Whitfield Dull of Staunton; a stepson, Richard Douglas Lotts of Hampton; a brother, Hutson B. Whitfield Jr. of Suffolk; and five grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Henry Funeral Home, 1030 W. Beverley St., Staunton, by the Rev. Jack B. Wilkers. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park, Augusta County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
