H.T. SMITH

H.T. ``Tom'' Smith, 70, a Peninsula resident for 38 years, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 1994.

He was a native of Augusta, Ga., and was the retired owner of Carr Smith Company in Hampton. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the West Hampton Baptist Church, the Hampton Exchange Club, Tidewater Pigeons Racing Association and the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Smith; four daughters, Carolyn T. Walkup of Newport News, Dorothy ``Dottie'' S. Massengill of York County, Dianne S. Kissel of Smithfield and Bonnie Sue Miller of Richmond; three stepsons, Rickey Lee Crenshaw of Danville, John F. Crenshaw III of South Boston and Kenneth Wayne Crenshaw of Newport News; two brothers, Richard W. Smith of Norfolk and Lee A. Smith of Charlotte, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News, by the Rev. Barry W. Chinn. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to West Hampton Baptist Church Building Fund, 631 Aberdeen Road, Hampton, Va. 23661.
