Ernest L. Nelson, 72, died Monday, Sept., 26, 1994, in his home after a long illness.
He was a native of Providence, R.I., and lived in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area from 1960 to 1973. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and was a dispatcher for Hennis Freight Lines, Portsmouth, until moving to Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Flora L. Nelson; two sons, Gary L. Nelson of Virginia Beach, Keith L. Nelson of Chesapeake; four daughters, Linda L. Galvin of Orlando, Fla., Debra L. Leake of Chesapeake, Sandra L. Rich of Shelby, N.C., Pamela L. Chester of Flat Rock, N.C.; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Alice Gates, and two brothers, John Nelson and Alfred Nelson.
