WOMAN BEATEN, CAR STOLEN

An 18-year-old woman was punched in the face and her car stolen in full view of the Woodrow Wilson High School tennis team Monday afternoon, police said.

The woman told police she drove to the end of Baskerville Lane near the school about 2:35 p.m. and was approached by a suspect who opened the driver's door and demanded that she get out.

When she refused, the suspect struck her in the face and pulled her out of the car. The suspect and an accomplice jumped into the car and drove away, police said.

Tennis team members helped police identify the two suspects. Both had recently been chased from the school by a policeman assigned to the area. They were later arrested.
