ROBERT SIMMONS SR.

Mr. Robert Simmons Sr. died Oct. 2, 1994, in a local hospital.

Mr. Simmons, a retired driver for D.D. James Transit, was born in Cofield, N.C. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church in Cofield, N.C. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Jane Simmons.

Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Goodman, Shirley Smith and Alice Faye Welch; one son, Robert Simmons Jr.; one sister, Thelma Neal, all of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted by Elder Rickie Sessoms today at 1 p.m. in Philippi Baptist Church, Cofield, N.C. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements handled by Reynolds Funeral Home, Ahoskie, N.C.
