Beatrice H. Pitt of the 2800 block of Kimball Terrace, a retired nurse, died Oct. 3, 1994, in Norfolk Community Hospital.
Mrs. Pitt was born in Norfolk and was the widow of Moses S. Pitt. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, Women's Club, Chancel Choir, Nurse's Unit, Mary D. Long Missionary Society, and Committee for the Needy; and the Women's Auxiliary of Norfolk Community Hospital. She was also a member of Virginia Nurses Association and NAACP. She was honored by the Women's Club of First Calvary Church, 1993, for Outstanding Service with the Senior Missionary Circle of the Church. She was educated in the public schools of Norfolk, a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and Norfolk State University with a B.A. degree in gerontology.
Survivors include a daughter, Jacquelyn Olivia Ingram of Norfolk; three sisters, Mary E. Jones of Norfolk, Frances H. Vander Leeuw of Chesapeake and Jessie M. Dunn of New York City; two grandchildren, Frances Lisa Pitt Boone and Demetrius L. Pitt; three great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Joseph, Jassmine Joseph and Keith Boone II; niece, Frances P. Felton; nephews, George T. Madison, George Felton and Lamont Felton; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. Johnnie L. White Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will assemble at 2804 Kimball Terrace. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
