Thelma B. Copeland, 81, of the 300 block of Bunch Blvd., died Oct. 4, 1994, in her home.
Mrs. Copeland was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of James E. Copeland. She was a retired employee of Miller Jewel Box in Norfolk. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, United Usher Board for over 50 years, served in the Senior Choir since 1971 and was a member of the Missionary Society and Chrysanthemum Chapter (NU)480, Order of Tents.
Survivors include a foster son, Curtis L. Richards of Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, Earnest Maddrey Jr. and Lawrence L. Maddrey, both of Portsmouth; and two cousins, Ruby J. Belvey of Philadelpha and Ted Arrington of Norfolk.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Ben A. Beamer Sr. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Viewing will begin at noon Sunday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Monday.
