REPUBLICAN RHETORIC CONFUSING

Am I the only person confused by the family-values rhetoric of the Republican Party (i.e. Christian Coalition) and what it practices? I see a dichotomy when the party is actively supporting convicted felons.

When the Republican Party rewards men like Gordon Liddy and Oliver North with accolades and huge sums of money, it appears to be sending a message that lying and stealing are acceptable family values. I've heard the arguments that Mr. North was not under oath (or that he had his fingers crossed); but by my Christian heritage, a lie is a lie.

I really do not blame Mr. Liddy or Mr. North for taking advantage of the money being thrown at them, for both are opportunists. I do fault the self-righteous individuals who provide the money.
