WHAT A WEEK FOR RALPH, ROBERTSON TOURNAMENT WINNERS CONTROL THE TERRAIN AT SUFFOLK GOLF COURSE.

BOBBY RALPH AND WAYNE Robertson had the kind of week golfers love to talk about for years.

Ralph's Peanut Fest Tournament achievements included:

Most accurate drive on the Suffolk Golf Course's fourth hole.

Longest drive on hole No. 13.

Fourth in the low gross competition with a 73.

He also fired a 71-75-146 and was declared the overall champion in the Suffolk Golf Association's seniors tourney Saturday and Sunday.

Robertson shot a 70 to capture the Peanut Fest event and teamed up with Adrian Robertson, Jim Lassiter and pro Tim White to take the 13th annual Obici Pro-Am at Suffolk Golf Course on Sept. 30 with a 136.

The Peanut Fest tourney attracted 68 golfers and placing second to Robertson was Bobby Bleiler with a 71.

Donny Knowlson and Ralph tied for third with 73's, but Knowlson took the honors when the two compared cards. Knowlson also was closest to the pin on the sixth hole.

Jerry Canada and Larry Lewis both had 75's in the low net division. Canada, who came in fifth on matched cards, was closest to the pin on No. 16.

Jeff Brown recorded a low net 64 to grab that bracket, and Wally Vaughn placed second with a 65. Benford Hunter, Dave Foreman and George Dakos all scored 67's, and Tom Barton III shot a 68.

Waldo Eason hit the most accurate drive on No. 17 and John Ridenour smashed the longest drive on the 15th hole. Other closest to the pin honors went to Jimmy Holland, No. 9, and Ray Garrett, No. 14.

Ralph's score in the seniors event was best in the low gross bracket for those 50 to 59 years of age. In that group, Bob Young shot an 81-76 - 157 to place second, and Doug Shotton scored an 81-77 - 158 to finish third.

In the 60 to 69 age category, the low gross results were Ray Garrett, 78-74 - 152; Robert White, 86-78 - 164. And in the 70 and over age classification, it was John Thanos, 81-88 - 169, and Rusty Ellis, 92-87 - 179.

Net winner for those 50 to 59 was Bobby Draper, 65-70 - 135. Others were Dave Foreman, 72-68 - 140, and Billy Earl Russell, 70-71 - 141.

Jimmy Whitley had a 67-71 - 138 to take the 60 to 69 group, and Ralph Hollowel was second at 72-71 - 143. Leland Turner recorded a 74-71 - 145 in the 70 and over division, and John Andresky had a 76-77 - 153.

In the pro-am, pro Keith King, Dennis Robertson, Bill and George Callis fired a low net 122 to capture that division. The tourney featured 24 professionals and 72 amateurs.

Two teams tied for second in the low net bracket. Three Winslows; - Sandy, Buddy and Phil - combined with pro Pete Britton to fire a 125 as did the team of pro Dennis Dougherty, Marvin Wise, Denny and Larry Lewis.

Coming in at 126 were pro Ronnie Kelley, Larry Ellis, Ronnie Adams and Roy Madison. And shooting a 127 were pro Barry Bulifant, Shawn Henry, Norman Fessell and Richard Harrell.

Top pro scores were Dougherty, 71; Mark Lambert, 73; Carl Filipowicz and Gary Anderson, 73; Frank Herrelko and Kelley, 74; White, Scott Letien, Billy Gibbs and Tim Newsom, 75.
