Henry Lee ``Jubilee'' Joyner Sr., 77, of Route 1, died Oct. 7, 1994, in a Suffolk hospital.
He was a native of Southampton County. He was a retired constable and tax collector. He was a Navy World War II veteran and a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. He was the son of John Henry Joyner and Nannie Lou Johnson Joyner.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Overman Joyner; one son, Henry Lee Joyner Jr. of Ahoskie; two sisters, Sue Connor of Emporia, Va., and Elizabeth Beasley of Oklahoma; four brothers, Herman L. Johnson, Claude Johnson and Kermie Johnson, all of Petersburg, Va., and Paul Johnson of Chesapeake, Va.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be today at 3:30 at Sandy Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. Terry Fowler. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Harrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
