Joseph Patrick O'Connor, Sr., 78, a native of Lackawanna, NY died Thursday, October 6, 1994. He had been a peninsula resident for 51 years, was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the Owls Bowling League.
He retired from the Aberdeen Postal Facility after many years service as a postal supervisor. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, O'Nella D. O'Connor, one daughter, Lydia Ann O'Connor, Newport News; two sons, Joseph P. O'Connor, Jr., El Paso, TX, William T. O'Connor of Mountain View, CA; seven grandchildren and three nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Peninsula Memorial Park by Rev. Michael D. McCarron and Rev. J. Harold McKeithen, Jr.
Visitation from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at W.J Smith & Son Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Peninsula Catholic High School Building Fund, 332 34th Street, Newport News, Virginia 23607, or a favorite charity.
