WILLIAM V. EDWARDS

William Virtie Edwards, 82, of the 4200 block of Genoa Crescent, a retired property processor, died Oct. 8, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.

He was a native of Decatur, Ala., retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korea, a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the widower of Annie L. Edwards.

Survivors include a son, William Fred Edwards of Portsmouth; a sister, Nellie Bonds of Birmingham, Ala.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. G.W. Harley. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
