The Sharks (4-3) got on the scoreboard first. Tailback James Rogers, who rushed for 113 yards, scored on a 34-yard run. The drive was aided by the Poseidons, who failed to convert on fourth down and short yardage from its 31-yard line. After a delay-of-game penalty against the Sharks, Rogers punched in for a touchdown on a counter play to the right. The Poseidons (3-3) scored on their next possession. After two runs by tailback Kevin Vines, quarterback Devonne Brown hooked up with wide receiver Brian Darden on a 55-yard scoring pass. The Sharks had the ball for most of the second quarter. After a drive of about eight minutes, kicker Jay Kegley connected on a 26-yard field goal, giving the Sharks a 10-8 halftime lead. The game was filled with penalties by both teams. The Poseidons were flagged for 155 yards worth of penalties, while the Sharks wracked up 95. Ealey, who had missed two of the games the Sharks lost, felt his presence on the field was a bonus for his team. ``I'm the leader of this team,'' Ealey said. ``Before the game I told them to follow me and I would lead them to victory. ``They depend on me. We started to spread the ball around and we are going to roll all the way to the championship'' The road to the championship continues next week as the Sharks hit the road to take on the Maryland Invaders.
